….i didn’t know that medical students do party, not until I attended this NUNSA (Nairobi University Nursing Students) party. Personally, we are medical students at the university pursuing different medical courses. It was a party that was collaborative consisting of (Bachelor of Nursing) BsN students (level 1- level 4) and some few (Bachelor of Pharmacy) Bpharm students (level 1- level 2).
FRIDAY 27TH – SARTUDAY 28TH FEBRUARY 2015
On arrival at the destined club, we walked to the gate where entry was by showing of your ticket. Just in front of the gate, a number of vehicles were parked while their owners disappeared inside the club. People got inside the club as ‘paparazzi’s’ did what they do best. The lining of the corridors were lighted simultaneously by red, green and purple lights that lit with a certain formula of organization. When it came to cladding, the party goers didn’t disappoint. They were clad on the right outfit. This guy’s exactly new what a party menu would look like.
As we learn with vigor the anatomy of the human body throughout our medical years, we do the same to parties whenever the chance gets us.
INGRESSION TO THE CLUB VENUE
As they came in, different camera flashes from either side shone on their faces. It was at the beginning of the amusement session and this increased the momentum of the medics. Everybody who came in front of a ‘paparazzi’ posed at a certain angle so as to improve the quality of the photo output.
They continued getting inside the preserved site of the event. It was a certain place at the middle of an open place. A huge hall that resembled a large gazebo most commonly used for club fantasies. The seats of the place were also the ancient club-fit seats made of authentic wood to fit the clubs specificity. There were round tables each decorated with red and white table-mats. Glasses were then placed upside-down on the mats. At the front, was a podium reserved for people like the, Governor of College of Health Science, the Chairman of Nunsa, the (Master of Ceremony) MCs and other officials. It was a well equipped with sound systems and the likes.
Towards the back, was a refreshments center. It was full of all types of drinks including wines and the likes. The fruit juices were also there for those who liked them. The lights were all well equipped to suit the events. Red, green and the concoctions of colors that well defined a party.
COMMENCING THE BANQUET
The fete started with the MC as he welcomed the medics. He cracked some funny jokes that had some humor in them. He was just funny and the right character of an MC. He later invited the Chairman of Nunsa who made the whole event jubilant.
He got up and requested all the ladies who had attended the event to remove one of their shoes and to place them at the center of the field. When all had done it despite some lovely resistance, he requested guys to go pick their respective lady’s shoe. If one wouldn’t rush for his lady’s shoe, another man would take it and he would claim the lady. (funny). Funny as it is, it happened and with that, the stage was opened as people rushed to pick their lady’s shoe. That’s showed some extents in possessiveness of people with their own.
BUFFET, GOAT EATING AND NYAMCHOM
After a few introductory and a word or two, people wouldn’t go ahead without ingesting something. The table that was full of the buffet service was located outside the place. The meals were awesome to everybody and a lot of were taken for that session. Some of them are posted below this text.
It was so orderly and once the chef had kept enough of what you needed on your plate, you would get back inside and seat on the tables as your friends come to seat by your side. After about 30 minutes, everybody was seated and gladly enjoying the meals. The paparazzi were all eyes as he took pictures in all direction. Most people were busy eating. There was no joke in this session. When others were chewing others were trying as hard to tear meat off the long bones.
As the paparazzi approached every table, most of the people posed for the pic to avoid those crazy photographs when holding a bone or chewing in a certain ravenous way.
CROWING OF MR. AND MISS NUNSA
The crowing of the two was the one that was greatly awaited for. The contestants had prepared themselves to the fullest knowing very well that they were to secure the positions. However, there must be a winner and a looser. They contestants were to cat-walk or walk like models to both the front and back of the place while showing of their modeling as camera’s shone their faces. The judges were well set for the job of evaluating who was the best model to take the crown. For every contestant, there was a song played by the DJ who had strong and quality mastery of the job. The contestant would walk elegantly as he/she showed their moves to the crowd. The medics cheered as they praised their fellow friends who marched on the runway. This was not performed by the shy guys or ladies. It needed courage and boldness. One also needed to believe on them and to take heart when defeated.
Some of the run-way pictures are posted below. There was also the session where one would walk with another lady. The main motive of this was to ‘see the best couple dance’. This made a step ahead because all eyes were on the participants. The ululations and accolades became more and more as the contestants showed their skills. The paparazzi were not left out in this also.
The winner for the Mr. and Mrs. Nunsa were crowned after a series of questions were hurled at them by the judges. One thing I liked about the judges was that they were all syked up and well dressed. To add on that, they had those faces that would make you compete just to get to look at them. They named the winners as the whole congregation came to hail the winners.
LATE NIGHT GREGARIOUS SESSION
It was at the final moments of the spree. Most people got outside the place and socialized at the outside of the venue. There was a vast club field with seats spread all around. It was the time socializing and companionless people became visible scampering in all directions. Everybody was chatting while others bought fruit juices, wine and alcohol. It’s said that once you have got time to party, party to the fullest. The beats inside the venue continued to beat as guys danced to the rhythm. Small groups were scattered on the field and stories buzzed all through the air. The convincing guys were also there trying to get ladies of their own. It’s something that never misses in a party. The photo session was also in great demand at this time as most people exited the club while others vowed to stay up all night clubbing. Keep An Eye On The Next Annual NUNSA FETE Because Nobody Will Ever Miss It.
